Message from the Congress President.

Welcome to Hyderabad, India, the venue of the 2013 SICOT Orthopaedic World Congress.

Since the inception of SICOT, this will be the first time that its Orthopaedic World Congress will be held in the Indian subcontinent. Hence the tremendous enthusiasm for welcoming Orthopaedic Surgeons and SICOT members from far and wide for this landmark meeting of World Orthopaedics. We will deliberate on many facets of Orthopaedics and Trauma discussing these topics at great length. All subspecialties will be represented and discussions will revolve around the cutting edge technology of today and the future. Fringe areas like information technology, resource management, orthopaedics in the developing world and preventive orthopaedics will hold the stage with traditional topics for debate. Conventional teaching, learning modalities like debates, instructional course lectures, symposia and case discussions will be there, complementing the many innovative and interactive programmes.

With a growing Indian economy and emerging markets, spending on health care and well-being is fast rising up on the priority list, bringing many new avenues for those connected with the health industry.

Hyderabad as a city is both ancient and modern, offering many opportunities to experience the culture and the area’s many sights. In addition, incredible India offers you a rich sightseeing experience to relax before and after the Congress.

Hyderabad OWC 2013 is sure to boast of a record attendance of delegates from this subcontinent and other parts of the world. I do hope that you consider participating in this very important meeting in the Indian subcontinent.

Abstract submission is closed. Thank you for submitting your abstracts. Presenting authors have been notified of their abstract acceptance/refusal.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The presenting author of an accepted abstract (oral and e-poster) must have registered and paid the congress registration fee by 31 May 2013 to have his/her abstract included in the Final Programme. The Congress Secretariat did not check if co-authors had registered. The deadline for changing the presenting author of an abstract through the abstract submission system was 31 May 2013.

3rd SICOT Educational Day

The SICOT Educational Day is an initiative undertaken by the SICOT Young Surgeons Committee. The aim of this day is to provide a comprehensive review course for residents and an evidence-based update for practicing surgeons on a specific theme at each SICOT meeting. The theme is selected in such a way that it is mutually beneficial to residents in their exams and to orthopaedic surgeons in their daily practice.
 
The theme chosen for this year was 'Trauma'. Great teachers from around the world were brought together to lecture on their area of expertise. Read more...

Visa Application

IMPORTANT: Please note that the SICOT Congress Secretariat cannot provide an invitation letter for visa purposes to participants from Afghanistan, China, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan (and foreigners of Pakistani origin), and Sudan. Participants from these countries must go to www.kwconferences.com/visa/sicot2013/login.asp and fill in the form to receive a valid invitation letter for their visa application. If you have not received the password, please contact the Congress Secretariat (congress@sicot.org). The deadline for filling in the form is 15 August 2013 at the very latest. Please note that after this date it will not be possible to receive an invitation letter and your visa application will not be accepted by the Indian authorities.

If you are not a national of any country mentioned above, an invitation letter will be sent to you by the SICOT Congress Secretariat once you have registered. Approvals/No Objections for holding the 34th SICOT Orthopaedic World Congress have been obtained from the following and are sent to you along with the invitation letter:
